A School

Sure, there are some children who come to Cookson Hills as "grade A certified" students. However, for the most part, many come with schoolwork being the farthest thing from their mind. They would much rather be hanging out with friends and having a good time than sitting at home with their math book and calculator. Others may be too sad, too angry, or too behind to be able to focus on school responsibilities. Others just may not care.

Whichever scenario you fit (if any), be encouraged that you CAN be successful. You CAN find a balance. You CAN graduate and feel good about what you're going to do once you finish high school. That's our goal for you. We strive to give you the right tools for your success.

Many of the classes you attend while at Cookson will cover basic and general subjects such as math, English, and science. Keep in mind, too, that you will also have the opportunity to learn about art, woodworking, welding, auto mechanics, Bible, business, foreign language, and etc. Each of these classes will probably only have about five to ten students.

Within the framework of our school also exists the possibility for some students to catch up on classes they previously failed or were unable to take. While some students are naturally behind (and won't be able to make up for lost time), others may graduate right on schedule or even finish up a year earlier than expected. It will all depend on you and the goals that are written up for you while you are in placement.
