It won't be long after you're here when people will swarm you with personal introductions. You will probably meet about a million people within the first week . . . and you probably won't remember but a couple names. Give it time. Pretty soon, "Hey you," will be replaced with "Hey, Bob!" or "How's it going, Sally?" Among those Bobs and Sallys will be students with different stories and adults with different jobs. You will meet those individuals who are members of your child care team (discussed later). Others folks you will see around campus include the school janitor, the librarian, grandparents, maintenance workers, computer specialists, secretaries, etc. About 90% of the people who work here, live here.

As referred to above, many students like you come with a lot of things on their minds and on their plates. Keep in mind, though, that each child's story paints a different picture of who comes to Cookson Hills: a family is struggling to communicate, a teenager is fighting an addiction, grandparents are wanting to offer more to their grandchild than they can give, etc. Understand, too, that people will only know what you tell them about yourself (with the exception of your child care team).

So, "what is this child care team you keep talking about?" This team consists of many individuals who will have a direct impact on the decisions made regarding your progress and care here. It includes:
- your houseparents,
- the area supervisor;
- your counselor,
- your social worker,
- your teachers.
